Producing wine at high elevation, 5150 ft, takes a special type of vine.
Consider it the cowboy way, we are in Wyoming after all, and everything seems a little bit tougher out here. These 'cold vine' hybrids can withstand winters as low as -30.
To temper those hardy grapes, we bring in top quality varietals from other regions, including a few cold varieties from northern states. Ultimately creating a blend that will remind you of something familiar yet keep you curious to experience something unique.
Nestled in the high prairie along the front range of Casper Mountain this is a winery region like no other. The mile high altitude has intense sunlight, while the cold nights preserve acidity. Even the varietals brought in can't escape the climate, as they ferment with less oxygen. It is with all of these variables that we start to unravel the mystery and create "unlocked vines."
